My name is Dougie and I was born the 12th of September 1990. I am originally from Sweden
and when I came to Scotland I did not have a good command of the English language. I was
brought here by George and Cathie McLeod and unfortunately
I had to spend 6 months of my life in quarantine kennels.
I was six months old when I arrived in Scotland but I was a year old when I was released from the kennels. Cathie came to visit me at least three times a week and would stay for long periods of time. She would groom me and try and play with me but I did not really know what to do! The highlight of all the visits was that she would bring me bits of cheese which I adored (and still do). I took a while to relax and get to know my human visitors because every thing was so strange and what with the language problem and all! Still after my sentence was served I was let out with Cathie from my concrete home.
Things were very strange at first. I did not know what all the green stuff was that I was standing on but it was nice to walk on and to roll on. I found out the hard way that living in a house was different from living in the kennels. I kept walking into chairs and other hard objects and had to learn it is better to walk around them! There was no training for that in the kennels. My head took a few knocks and even today if I let my concentration lapse for a moment I still get a few knocks.
My breeder Karl-Åke Antonson was very sad to see me go but he knew that Cathie had been wanting a dog like me for a very very long time. You see I am quite special, I am a drop eared Skye Terrier and Cathie has always wanted one like me since she was young, not that she is that old now! I had better keep on her good side or the supply of cheese may dry up and I can tell you that would be a disaster!
Cathie has taken me all over Britain to dog shows and I have met up with other Skye Terriers but only occasionally do I meet up with other drop ears. We are a select few. I have had a successful time at dog shows winning nine Challenge Certificates, eight with Best of Breed. I have five reserve C.C.s and been Best in Show at the Skye Terrier Championship Show twice. I was also B.O.B. at Crufts Dog Show which Cathie was delighted about. It didn't really bother me. My idea of a good time is when I get treated to hotel accommodation at Crufts time and Cathie's friend (and mine) Sine Threlfall brings cheese up from the breakfast table and gives it to me. I have her well trained!
I have lots of company here. I live with 5 other dogs, two cats and one hen! If you want to find out more about me then you can send mail to Dougie@tillybin.wintermute.co.uk
This is a picture of me ready for a show...

...and this one was taken just before I left Sweden...
The latest show I have entered is a new venture
for me. It is the Virtual Dog Show, Spring 1996.
and it looks like lots of fun. I am in the Show Catalogue. I wonder what virtual cheese tastes like?!
Yes - this page could do with updating - in the meantime, I have had lots of e-mail from admirers all round the world - thank you very much. Many of you have asked about my pedigree so here it is!
